President / CEO's Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website. Whether you are seeking information on receiving scholarships and grants or financially supporting one of the many funds or initiatives at The Moline Foundation, I appreciate your interest.

When someone asks, "what is a community foundation," I think of one of my favorite quotes by Margaret Mead. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world...indeed, it's all that ever has."

It began in 1953 with an act of kindness from one person, Robert K. Swan. His giving has inspired thousands of others to contribute their money to help improve the lives of their neighbors. With more than $42 Million distributed to local non-profit partners over the past 69 years, The Moline Foundation has helped change the community.

As President/CEO, I am honored to lead this organization whose purpose and legacy is improving our community in partnership with many generous and thoughtful donors.

Please get in touch with the team or me with questions. I appreciate your interest in The Moline Foundation.

Best regards,

Paul Plagenz

President / CEO

Our Values

Access to opportunity is the fundamental organizing principle of our work.  The money we raise from the public will support projects and programs that create opportunities for economic and social progress—for our people, our neighborhoods, and our region.

Facts and research-based information about our region, people, and charitable partners are critical components of our work.  The Moline Foundation's grants, activities, and initiatives will respond to demonstrated needs in our communities.

Through a competitive grants process, we support innovative, creative, and efficient nonprofit organizations that articulate missions and goals and can successfully meet the needs of our families, individuals, and neighborhoods.

The Moline Foundation is a partnership of donors, nonprofit groups, civic leaders, and all who care about this area we call home.

We strive to collaborate, convene and communicate in ways that promote generosity, civic involvement, sound public policy, and caring for our neighbors and neighborhoods.

The Moline Foundation was established in 1953 to encourage philanthropy and create opportunities to improve the quality of life for present and future generations in Moline, the Quad Cities area, and the surrounding region.

We work with donors to help our charitable partners working in the areas of:

Arts  & Culture, Community Development, Education,

Environment and Human Services

"Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present. ”
